We believe in community

We strive to partner with our City neighbors by providing access to spay/neuter services for their pet cats. Our aim is to lower, if not remove, any barriers to this essential care. We provide cat carriers, transportation and, after alteration is completed, we very often stay involved by giving cat food and supplies to our clients. We believe that to not offer these spay/neuter services is to accept the large numbers of vulnerable, homeless animals on our City streets, all of whom are at risk of multiple pregnancies, illness, injuries from cars and other dangers.

We know that many of the cats we assist are already rescues! Nearly all the people we help took in their pet cat from the streets. Without providing these residents an option to access the fundamental service of alteration, their pets will likely experience disruptive heat cycles (sometimes occurring every 14-21 days) or engage in malodorous spraying around the house (especially in the case of unaltered males). We do not believe that allowing a cat to go in and out of a home, so as to better handle these behaviors, is the answer. The only remedy is to help our neighbors gain access to spay/neuter services.

Spay / Neuter

Spaying and neutering are critical for controlling the population of cats in need, whether feral or owned. For feral cats, these procedures prevent the birth of unwanted litters that would face harsh conditions, starvation, and disease on the streets. For owned cats, it eliminates the risk of contributing to shelter overpopulation if offspring are surrendered. Beyond population control, spaying and neutering improve individual cat health and behavior, reducing risks of certain cancers, infections, and roaming tendencies that can lead to injury or conflict.

Vaccines

Vaccinations provide essential protection against deadly and highly contagious diseases like rabies, panleukopenia (feline distemper), and upper respiratory infections. For feral cats, vaccines are a cornerstone of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs, safeguarding colony health and preventing outbreaks that can decimate local populations. For owned cats, even those temporarily in shelters or rescue, vaccines are a fundamental part of preventative care, ensuring they do not contract or spread illness in multi-cat environments. This protection is vital for their survival and for public health, particularly with rabies.

Keeping cats indoors is a crucial component of responsible pet ownership, offering them a longer, safer, and healthier life. Indoor cats are protected from the myriad dangers they would face outside, including traffic, predators, parasites, contagious diseases, poisoning, and getting lost or stolen. This controlled environment also benefits local wildlife, as indoor cats do not hunt birds and small mammals. By providing a stimulating home with toys, scratching posts, and window perches, owners can ensure their feline companions enjoy a fulfilling and content life, free from the unpredictable risks of the outdoors.

Food & Clean Water

Consistent access to fresh food and clean water is fundamental to survival and health. For feral cats, reliable feeding stations support colony management, improve body condition to fight illness, and discourage scavenging through trash, which can be dangerous. Clean water prevents life-threatening dehydration, especially in summer or frozen winters. For owned cats in crisis or transition, proper nutrition and hydration stabilize their health, support immune function, and improve temperament, making them more adoptable. Providing sustenance is the most immediate act of care, addressing their most urgent physiological needs.
